As her practice is situated around the concerns of how the body holds its history, and how the recalled history can emerge through the act of making contact with materials, Han Nae seeks to discover ways in which artist’s body operates as a sensorial field for transferable matters. In her studio, Han uses her body as a vessel, a medium or as a bridge to transfer, transform, and to re-enact phenomena that have been perceived through all the senses. Through meditative, repetitive or obsessive application of the mediums, Han’s work progresses as if it autonomously builds on itself while tangling with its past. Dynamic froths, melts, flows, decays, rips and eruptions are generated in between creation and destruction, and within a constant flux.
